Yale Partners

We work with a variety of partners to fulfill our mission of advancing gender diversity at Yale and in higher education more broadly. A sample of joint action with some of our partners follows. We always seek creative collaborators, please contact us.  

• Committee on the Status for Women In Medicine (SWIM): Our counterpart at the Medical School, SWIM works to raise awareness of issues relevant to women faculty at YSM and advocates for women faculty with respect to those issues. In addition to sharing a commitment to gender equality, WFF and SWIM regularly collaborate on similar issues and joint projects. 
• YaleWomen: YaleWomen draws together all Yale alumnae and, much like WFF, is committed to advancing women’s voices and perspectives.  The large group of alumnae provides a strong base of support for our organization. In the past, we have paired up with YaleWomen to organize a conference on gender and institutional policy. The “Gender Rules” Conference, held on November 1st, 2014, is one of our most recent highlights: more than 300 alumni, students, faculty, staff, and administrators gathered in the School of Management to hear from experts on gender equity research and advocacy. To see the full account of the event, check out the Storify digest by YaleWomen here. 
• International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU): This network of global universities promotes academic diversity and international collaboration.  In 2008, Yale hosted the group’s colloquium entitled “Women and Men in the Globalizing University.” For this colloquium on gender and higher education, some forty Yale faculty members and administrators joined representatives from each of the ten IARU member universities and experts from other institutions and foundations. This discussion continued the IARU research project on Women and Higher education. 
• Women in Science at Yale (WISAY): In addition to sponsoring a number of WISAY’s workshops throughout the year, WFF co-hosts an event with the group that brings together their membership base of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs with our faculty members for a mentoring and networking luncheon every spring. WFF looks forward to gathering the community of women STEM scholars at Yale every year.  To read more about last year’s luncheon, please follow this link. 
• Center for Teaching and Learning: WFF is excited to partner with this new center on campus for our upcoming workshop on “Writing about Gender Identity and Diversity for Grant Applications.” Other opportunities for promoting mentoring and community building as well as developing more resources for our faculty members are on the horizon as well.
