The Elga R. Wasserman Courage, Clarity, and Leadership Award recognizes a person who has contributed to building equity, diversity, and inclusion at Yale and has excelled in articulating and advancing the highest aspirations of the Yale community. This year, the WFF is proud to announce the recipient is Judith Resnik, the Arthur Liman Professor of Law at Yale Law School.
Resnik has been part of a group of women who have helped Yale to engage with the challenges of becoming an institution open to all people. When Yale was marking its 300th anniversary, Resnik was among the conveners of a segment to acknowledge the entry of women as students and as teachers during the last century. Resnik was key in the development of the 2001 program, Gender Matters - Women and Yale in its Third Century, which prompted the founding of WFF.
As noted by the Wasserman committee:
“Judith Resnik exemplifies the qualities honored by the Wasserman Award through her scholarship and teaching that reflects her unwavering commitment to gender equity. As the founding director of the Arthur Liman Center for Public Interest Law, she has been instrumental in supporting full year fellowships, now for more than 200 graduates of Yale Law School, and for advancing initiatives that promote justice and equality. In and out of the academy, Professor Resnik has actively participated in organizations such as the International Association of Women Judges, the Gruber Program on Global Justice and Women’s Rights, and she has co-chaired Yale University’s Women Faculty Forum, demonstrating her dedication to fostering inclusive environments.”
It is with great honor that the Women Faculty Forum celebrates Judith Resnik and presents her with the 2025 Elga R. Wasserman Award.
