On Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018, 10 winners will present their projects funded by the WFF Seed Grant Program. We’re excited to see the efforts of their hard work and celebrate the program’s first year! A schedule of the conference is below. Lunch will be provided; please RSVP if you intend to stay for lunch. A copy of the poster is available here

9:00 to 9:15: Welcome from Professor Kathryn Lofton, Deputy Dean for Diversity and Faculty Development; Professor of Religious Studies, American Studies, History, and Divinity

9:15 to 9:45: Lisa Kereszi, Artist, Critic in the Photography and DUS for the School of Art. Project Title: ”Walking with Ottilie,” a photographic fine art project made by a new mother with her daughter in tow

9:45 to 10:15: Devyani Aggarwal, Yale College ‘18, History and French. Project Title: “Patron Behind the Purdah: Maharanis as Connoisseurs & Crusaders in British India” 

10:15 to 10:45: Anna Kamerow, Yale School of Management ‘18 and Emily Auerbach, Yale School of Management and Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies ‘20. Project Title: “The Present and Future of Spaces for Queer Women, Non-Binary, and Transgender Individuals”

10:45 to 11:15: Tanya Murtha, MD, MPH, Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatric Critical Care at Yale School of Medicine. Project Title: “Delivering Difficult News in Pediatrics”

11:15 to 11:45: Casey J. Odesser, Yale College ‘20, American Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Project Title: “SAP: Sincerity and Cynicism in Sync,” an art exhibition which explores how power dynamics shape our comportment in social spaces

11:45 to 12:15: Albert Fang, PhD, Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for the Study of American Politics and the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, and a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science. Project Title: “Understanding and Reducing Partisan Gaps in Legal Mobilization in Response to Sex Discrimination Among Women”

12:15 to 12:45: Lunch

12:45 to 1:15: Katherine Thornton, PhD, Digital Conservator, Yale University Library, and Kenneth Seals-Nutt, Yale College ’18, Computer Science. Project Title: “Science Stories,” an interactive web application on women in science prior to co-education at Yale

1:15 to 1:45: Alexis Williams, Yale College ‘18, African American Studies. Project Title: “Black Women, Reproductive Labor, and the Meaning of Freedom”

1:45 to 2:15: Isabel Martinez, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS. Project Title: “Giving Voice to Latina Immigrants: Role of “Status” and other Cultural Factors on Risk and Health”

2:15 to 2:45: Ashley Andreou, Yale School of Public Health ‘19 and Global Justice Fellow at Yale Law School. Project Title: “Women’s Health, Gender Equity, and the Media”

2:45 to 3:00: Closing Remarks
