Yale Women Faculty Forum Public Thought Leadership Fellowship

Introduction

The Yale Women Faculty Forum (WFF) is delighted to offer the Public Voices Thought Leadership Fellowship for 2016-2017. This unique opportunity helps increase the influence and contribution of Yale’s top scholars as thought leaders through practical instruction and mentoring in writing and placing op-ed pieces, conducting TV/radio interviews, TED talks, using social media and more. We are now seeking applications from junior and senior faculty. Women and underrepresented minority faculty at Yale are encouraged to apply. To request a spot in the class of 20, please answer the following questions and email your completed application to wff@yale.edu by Wednesday, May 25, 2016.

Requirements of the Program

All participants are expected to make every effort to attend all four quarterly sessions throughout the fellowship year. The dates of these “convenings” are:

·       Friday, September 30 – Saturday, October 1 (half day)

·       Friday, November 11

·       Friday, February 10

·       Friday, May 5

The first session is a full day from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. the following day. The next three sessions are each one-day long (9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). All participants are expected to publish a minimum of two op-eds and/or participate in other venues of thought leadership during the fellowship year.

Application

-       Description of Scholarship/Work: Limit to 1.5 pages double-spaced

o   What issues would you like to write about and how will your ideas contribute to public conversations?

o   Indicate if your scholarship has international relevance, as there is a funding source available for such fellows. 

o   If applicable, describe the way in which your voice is underrepresented.

-       Curriculum Vitae (include non-academic publications or other forms of communication).

-       200 word (or less) professional bio and photo. Your bio and photo will be shared among those who are selected as Public   Voices Fellows.

Please submit complete application material via email to wff@yale.edu in Word or PDF format (photo as JPEG) by Wednesday, May 25, 2016. The Selection Committee will announce its decisions about two weeks afterward.
